Purchased yesterday and set it up without any problems. It is now compatible with Comcast. This was an issue previously, but Comcast has now certified its use. Performance is great and very convenient having build in wireless, no need for a separate router, especially if you are mostly wireless, which my family is. I also ran several speed tests and got up to 20Mbps download and 3.4Mbps upload. Very pleased and a dramatic improvement from my older Comcast supplied Scientific Atlanta Modem. Highly recommended!!

I do not understand why this modem has not been approved for so long a time. Both Motorola and Comcast dropped the ball for this product. Do not buy it if you have Comcast, you will not be able to use it. I still can’t believe that BestBuy and Fry’s will sell this product in an area where there is a monopoly of Comcast cable.

I cannot judge this modem on its performance, but the fact that the largest cable provider in the U.S. does not support this modem after several months of it being on the market says give it one star.

This cable modem is currently NOT compatible with Comcast. I didn’t know that some cable modems are incompatible with certain internet providers, the product description makes it seem like this modem will work with anything.

I’ve called Comcast a few times and they say they plan on certifying this one, but they haven’t done it yet so you can’t use it. This is unfortunate because Comcast has certified the previous model, the SBG900, and that one is an excellent modem with built-in wifi. So it saves you the money/space/clutter of having to buy an additional router. Even worse, the SBG900 has been discontinued.

So I have to return mine, but will probably re-purchase it once it gets certified. I haven’t used the product, so no basis to rate it, but I had to give a star-rating to post this. Just wanted to give the warning of incompatibility with Comcast.
